3 Month Birthday...

It's hard to believe that Nelson is already three months old, but he is...  We "celebrated" this morning by taking some photos to remember the day.  So much has transpired in the last three months and our world has totally been flipped upside down (in a good way) with the arrival of this little guy.  He's truly been a blessing to us as I don't think either of us could have imagined the depths of love for a child.

We are going to head down to Austin this weekend to be with our friends the Argents (who live there) and the Williams.  In a month (well, three months) of "firsts", this will be Nelson's first road trip.  We decided that it'd be a good idea to get a head start on the college research thing, so we're going to spend some time checking out The University of Texas this weekend :-). It's never too early, right?  No, if I turn into "that father", I've done something wrong especially considering Kristen, Whitney Williams (Weber) and the Argents (Jim and Nancy) all went to Missouri together, so the Tigers will probably not be strong advocates of any Longhorn research.

It's been a great three months.  So grateful to have had them....

The mirror encounter video.....

Kristen and her mother took Nelson to the pediatrician's office today to check on his weight... the little guy could stand to put on some weight, but is still happy and healthy.  While waiting in one of the examination rooms, Kristen was able to get Nelson's first real encounter with himself in the mirror.  Thought this was too great not to post.

My first three months with Mommy....

This is Nelson here.  I know it's probably pretty unbelievable to think that I could be writing this blog, seeing as I am just three months old, but try to get over that.  I mean, I am an incredibly bright kid, so it might be possible? Pretend it is...

I wanted to take the reigns of the blog this week from Daddy as I wanted to say thank you to my Mommy for spending the last three months with me on her maternity leave.  I don't really understand what this "work" thing is, but from what I can tell, it means that it helps put food on the table for the family (even though I only drink milk).  I've loved the last three months with my Mommy and am so excited to go to my new school to meet friends.  I am most excited about the fact that my school is RIGHT next door to my Mommy's work, which means she will get to come over and see me often throughout the day.  Mommy, thank you for being such a wonderful Mommy to me.  I've loved this first chapter of our life together!  My guess is that life will just keep getting better for me and if the last three months are any example, my life is going to be pretty amazing.  Thanks Mommy... Here are a few of my favorite memories over the last three months with you!

The crib's callin'...

We've had Nelson in his crib since the second night we brought him home - however he always slept in his "Moses basket" in the crib.  Well, now he's too big for the Moses basket and Nelson's been called up to the big leagues: sleeping in his crib.  Tonight is his first night to do so.  It's bittersweet in that he's growing so quickly - it's amazing to see him grow and become more alert and active, still it's a bit sad.

I also caught a few sweet shots of Kristen and Nelson tonight on the couch.  Kristen goes back to work on Monday - her three month maternity leave just about over.  I know it will be incredibly difficult for her to go back to work, but we're so grateful that she's had these three months to be with the little guy.  Nelson will stay with his "Granny Di" (Kristen's mother) next week before attending a child development center on a daily basis next door to Kristen's downtown office.

Bathtime and Bumbo

Well, we don't know much about Nelson's likes and dislikes yet, but one thing we know he loves are baths.  Nothing can settle the little guy down like setting him in his Puj in the sink with warm water rushing over him.  If he loves baths this much now, I suspect Nelson might have an affinity for the spa someday like his Mom and Dad.  I caught a few images in a recent bath (no worries, we were sure to make sure these were G-rated).  As you can see, he doesn't much like getting out of the bath.

With Nelson's neck muscles being strong enough to support his head, we got Nelson in his Bumbo this week for the first time to get him a good "core workout".  He was NOT excited about the prospect of the Bumbo in his first experience with it, but seemed to really enjoy it this morning when I snapped these photos.  I am sure that Nelson's core is well on it's way to being ripped (unlike Dad's).

Nelson visits Mexico...

Well, we're doing it.  We're really doing it. Nelson has a blog.  As much as I swore we would not do a blog for Nelson, I've finally been convinced that this medium would be a great way for us to keep those that care up to date on the "goings-ons" of our little guy.  That said, this will not be a daily.  I can't even promise it'll be a weekly.  It will, however, be the source for news (however dated it might be) on Nelson.  Hope you'll follow or at least occasionally check in.

Given our love for travel, we figured a logical place to start would be our trip to Punta Mita, Mexico - Nelson's first trip on a plane and obviously his first trip out of the country.  He's now armed with a passport, which we hope will be used as often as possible for the five years it's valid.  We had a great time between the sunsets, the food, the beach, the pool, the golf, and the Pacificos and margaritas.  We were fortunate to be joined by our friends the O'Neals and their new son, Griffin.  Griffin and Nelson are sure to be best of friends as they grow up.  Hoping this is the first of many trips the two can take together.  We stayed at the St. Regis. The weather brought torrential rains at night, but sun during the day.  The rains afforded us an upgrade to a great suite on the ocean and the golf course after our room was flooded!  We were hoping this would be a memorable vacation, but didn't expect it to be due to a flooded room. Nonetheless, great time!
