Happy 8th Anniversary...

We'll get away from Nelson for a post... Eight years ago today, Kristen and I were married in Dallas.  Truly been an amazing eight years.  We've learned a lot, grown a lot, laughed a lot, forgiven a lot, cried a lot... and loved a lot.  We've made it eight years because we have chosen to focus on what's important, God, and because of that have become even closer.  Thanks for an amazing eight years.  Here's to eighty more... Well, actually that would make me 116 years old and I really have no interest in being that old... so here's to a lot more anniversaries.  Love you, Brian.

1 Corinthians 13

1 If I speak in the tongues[a] of men or of angels, but do not have love, I am only a resounding gong or a clanging cymbal. 2 If I have the gift of prophecy and can fathom all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have a faith that can move mountains, but do not have love, I am nothing. 3 If I give all I possess to the poor and give over my body to hardship that I may boast,[b] but do not have love, I gain nothing.
4 Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. 5 It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. 6 Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. 7 It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.
8 Love never fails. But where there are prophecies, they will cease; where there are tongues, they will be stilled; where there is knowledge, it will pass away. 9 For we know in part and we prophesy in part, 10 but when completeness comes, what is in part disappears. 11 When I was a child, I talked like a child, I thought like a child, I reasoned like a child. When I became a man, I put the ways of childhood behind me. 12 For now we see only a reflection as in a mirror; then we shall see face to face. Now I know in part; then I shall know fully, even as I am fully known.
13 And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love.

Sorry, Nelson's been busy...

Wow, it's been nearly three weeks since our last check-in.  I am sure the grandparents are wondering if we gave up on this venture.  I'm also sure the rest of you could have gone another three weeks and not missed the blog - sorry if we overpost.  It's been an eventful three weeks.  Nelson has had his first real cold - we're sure as a result of "school".  He has spent much of the last three weeks with serious congestion, so Kristen and I have literally been sucking snot out of that little nose.  Nosefrida is the magic cure and is strangely gratifying for Mom & Dad.  It's a long tube that we insert into Nelson's nostril and literally suck from the other end.  It works 10x better than your grandmother's bulbs, but Nelson is beginning to think of it as some sort of medieval torture device.  I can't believe I've spent this much time talking about snot.  If you have a little one, get it... or if you would just like to suck the snot out of our own nose (or spouse's), check it out (and then please get help).

I took the below shot with an 11mm lens a couple of weeks ago.  Nelson was sitting on my chest and I probably snapped this 3 inches from his face, but with the wide angle lens, it's wide open... but you'll notice his face looks pudgier.  When that close, a wide angle will distort the image.  That's about the only way we're having success putting "weight" on the little guy.  I blurred the image and then another in black and white.

Post-bath in his chicken towel.  Love these shots - especially the one with his mother.

We visited Kristen's family for our nephew Camp's 4th birthday last weekend.  We took a couple of shots of the Granny Diane and Grandpa Mike with the cousins.

Kristen and I celebrate our 8-year anniversary in the week ahead and Nelson turns 5-months old!!  More posts on that later this week, I am sure.

Happy Birthday Mommy (Kristen)....

Well, it's Kristen's 35th birthday today - officially halfway between 30 and 40.  34 was a great year for Kristen with the arrival of Nelson.... Still, I think she'll enjoy 35 even more as she continues to get to know him.  If you know Kristen, you know that she's a passionate/spirited person, devoted friend, amazing wife, and now a wonderful mom.  The Bohn boys (Nelson and Brian) are so blessed to have her as the woman in our life.  Here's to 35 Kristen... we love you!

The following are a few shots of Nelson this week... With the kick-off of college football, we both felt the need to get Nelson in our schools' apparel.  We're still working on the "M-I-Z Z-O-U" and "Bear Down Arizona" with him... but he'll get there.  We also got Nelson together with his friend Griffin this week.  Griffin is three weeks older than Nelson and the son of John and Susan O'Neal, some great friends of ours.  Finally, a few shots of the little guy with his grandparents - Mike and Diane.

And a couple of bath shots for added measure (G-rated, of course)...

Four months old...

Tennis anyone?

Nelson has had a big week.  This week marked his four month birthday.  Crazy how fast the time has gone by.  He continues to get longer... and continues to stay lean.  We sure wish those diaphragm muscles would kick in to prevent his spitting up.  Still, he's a happy, healthy guy.  Very happy in fact.  He's all smiles and this month marked his first "laugh".  Thought we'd share a few photos from this week.

Nelson and Grayson meet in Denver...

We got Nelson on the road again last weekend to visit my sister's family in Denver.  This was the first opportunity for us to get Nelson together with his cousin, Grayson.  Gray had his first birthday and his baptism over the weekend.  It was such a great time as it was the first time we had the "Bohn clan" together at once since Nelson's birth nearly four months ago: my parents (Grandpa Jim and Grandma Arnita), Aunt Kristy and her husband Uncle Drew, and Cousin Gray.  We were also blessed to be joined by Drew's parents, Toni and Mike.

Nelson did great on the flight out.  It was nice to get out of the 100+ summer days of Dallas and into the comparatively cool air.  We managed to play some golf (and pretty good golf at that) and ate really well.  Of course, the highlight was getting Nelson and Gray together.  I imagine that these guys will be great friends for life - so planting the seed over this weekend was so much fun to watch.  Gray, at one, is mobile and such a bright, entertaining kid.  He was wanting to interact with Nelson, but four month olds don't do much more than lay around.... well, and smile... Nelson was entertained by Gray and smiled frequently at him.  Here are some of the highlights with our family:

We'll all be fortunate enough to get together again for Christmas in Flagstaff, AZ at my parents house.  By that time, Nelson will be nearly eight months old.  So much looking forward to seeing the two cousins together again then.  Thanks to Drew and Kristy for putting us up at their beautiful home in Denver.  Love you guys...
