We spent the week of Thanksgiving in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico with Kristen's family. Her mother and father were gracious enough to allow us to spend a week at their timeshare with them along with Kristen's Aunt Gayle, Uncle Hank, and her cousin Kyle. It was a GREAT time. It was time we needed as a family as I was coming off of an 11-day stretch of commuting to Chicago. Going that long without seeing your son is miserable, especially when they are so young and it seems like there is something new developmentally nearly every day.
We had an amazing time. Their property was right on the beach and had easy access to Los Cabos. Nelson spent some time in the sand and had his first real experience in ocean surf. He also spent plenty of time on his tummy trying to crawl. We were encouraging him often with "lures" and while he would scoot on his belly, he never really grasped crawling. He's so close to doing it though. Again, thanks to Mike and Diane for the hospitality and having us in Mexico. It was a family trip we will never forget.

6 Months Old & a Day at the Arboretum
It's been a crazy, crazy, hectic, nuts few weeks which has left us little time to devote to the blog. Before things get more nuts in the coming few weeks (more on that in a future post), thought we should get an update in. Nelson is six months old (as of yesterday). Time has flown by and it's hard to believe it's been 1/2 of a year already with Nelly. This month has seen him scooting on his belly (backwards only), getting up on all fours, and turning with regularity. We feel like crawling is probably imminent - which means setting him in one place without worry is over shortly also.
We snapped the below six month photos this morning before heading out to the Dallas Arboretum for an afternoon as a family. The weather today was phenomenal and the arboretum was really crowded with families. Our big goal was to get Nelson in the pumpkin patch to snap a few photos, but I think the highlight was just throwing out a blanket on one of the many lawns and enjoying our time together. Much thanks to Nelson's Aunt Kristy, Uncle Drew, and Cousin Grayson for the owl hat.... He loves it.
Looking forward to Halloween tomorrow. I am sure more photos of that will follow.

5 months old!
Okay, it can't be five months already. This is crazy. It has to slow down because it's going far too quickly. Something tells me it won't and you blink your eyes and Nelson will be 1 then 5 then driving then married. Alright, I am getting ahead of myself, but as his personality emerges I do wish we could tap the brakes a little bit and bottle this time up.
As you can see, he's long... I guess not surprising when you consider his parents. He's really lean too. This month marked the introduction of rice cereal to his milk in order to try to bolster some weight gain. Last check the little guy was in the 5-10% of weight relative to his "peers". Still, he appears to be gaining momentum here... his cheeks are fattening, his legs are getting bigger. It really doesn't matter I guess as he's happy and healthy.
Happy fifth month Nelson!
